Up till now, ive been writing my own beats and grooves. It branches out in different subgenres, but its all mostly just rock in one form or another. Quit VE Pro, then re-launch VE Pro and load the metaframe.I mainly write and record rock music. The instance will load with VE's audio engine off. Turn on the audio engine for that VE Pro instance. An EZX is a sound library expansion for EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer 3.
You will notice that the SD2/EZD will then load the samples. With an EZX, you will get new drum kits, sound library presets, and even a new MIDI grooves library that you can use inside of the EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer 3 drum software. Here is where the first bug is: If you connect to this VE Pro instance without first manually activating its audio engine as in step 3 above, the SD2/EZD will permanently remain with NO samples loaded, and there is no way to make it re-load the samples until you close and reload the VE metaframe, or instantiate another SD2/EZD plug-in. EZDrummer sends the audio back through Ableton to the the TD17 to my headphones. I have tried the EZdrummer demo, and it sounds great, but its also very limited. In addition, it seems dodgy with regards to connects and disconnects. The price is fine at 150 or whatever it is, and the step up to Superior Drummer is considerable. Also, hard disk space feels like it would be an issue with SD3, its so huge I have no experience with Steven Slate drums. It also mentions how you conveniently can crossgrade from EZdrummer to Superior Drummer 2.0. At some point, even after loading the samples successfully, I have found that it will have unloaded them upon the next time your DAW connects to this VE Pro instance.
